What an exciting week in Linz 🇦🇹, where I attended #CHIWORK26

🙏 Firstly, I want to thank the organising committee led by Philipp Wintersberger, and Martina Mara, all my fellow chairs, and the student volunteers who made sure everything ran smoothly. It was my pleasure to serve as Proceedings chair for this symposium.

📡 I really enjoyed attending a workshop on science communication on Monday which brought together diverse perspectives.

🏥 My poster on bringing situated encounters to nursing wards, where professional actors puppeteer a robot in #AR and solicit requirements together with the nurses was well received and spurred a number of discussions.

🏆 Lastly the highlight for me was that my #newmedia #artwork 'The Reflective Zen Box', which was on display in the lobby of the Ars Eletronica centre won the popular vote for best artwork. Thank you !!

The Reflective Zen Box, is a speculative portable tactile and haptic device designed to mitigate workplace stress. In such an era where technology and advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) are being pushed into the workplace with the promise of higher efficiency, the cost is increased burnout in the workplace. People are made to work faster, at the cost of increased cognitive demands. As a response, we present The Reflective Zen Box, an artwork that offers a physical, meditative alternative through soothing haptic vibrations, together with reactive generative visuals, and which aims to reclaim the technological push as a source of ‘flow’.
